The Knights of Columbus
The Knights of Columbus were founded in 1882 in New Haven Connecticut by Father Michael J. McGivney. The Knights were formed as a fraternal benefit organization to provide for the families of deceased members and to unite Catholic men in their faith. To this day, the Knights of Columbus maintain their proud tradition of patriotism and faith in action through its numerous charitable works and its insurance program for its members. In 2017, the Knights provided $185 million to charity and 75 million man hours of charitable service. Our principles are Charity, Unity, Fraternity, and Patriotism.
Folsom Council 6197
The Folsom chapter of the Knights of Columbus is Council 6197, also known as the Bishop A. Gallegos Council 6197. We provide charitable services to Folsom and the surrounding Sacramento area and support St. John The Baptist Parish. Whether serving pancakes at the parish on Sundays, collecting coats for children in need, marching in solidarity at the annual March for Life, or simply sharing in the brotherhood of fellow Catholic men, Council 6197 aims to provide an opportunity for Catholics to put their faith into action. We welcome all Catholic men in good standing with the Catholic Church to join the Knights of Columbus and our Council.
